Radium Production

Radium is extracted the form of RaCl₂ or other salts as a by-product of uranium ores processing (after taking U out) using methods of precipitation, fractional crystallization and ion exchange. Radium metal is electrolytically obtained from RaCl₂ on a mercury cathode and RaO reduction by heating with aluminium in vacuum.
